These elections for Cornwall Council on Thursday the 6th of May are the most important in a decade. You have a chance to decide between more of the same with the current coalition, or you can vote to make a difference with the Conservatives.
I’m William Bolitho and I’m standing in the upcoming Cornwall Council elections for the Mousehole, Newlyn & St Buryan Division this May.
I was elected onto St Buryan Parish Council in 2017. I believe I’ve put my best efforts into the Parish and now I hope to take these values into this new role. I grew up on the family farm in St Buryan, attended St Buryan Primary School and Cape Cornwall Secondary School.
I was part of the family agricultural contracting business in my early years and after went on to grain harvests in the USA and Canada as well as silage contracting in New Zealand. I taught English in both Japan and Russia, which opened up new experiences of other cultures and systems. I’ve been part of St Buryan football, cricket, and YFC clubs. The main aspect of my work at present is building Cornish stone hedges, which will hopefully last many centuries.
The division has both coastal and country aspects which are important to me and I’ll do my best to protect them.
Supporting local agriculture
With the new scheme to support our British agricultural sector coming into effect, I will further campaign to ensure that Cornwall Council provides the necessary support to those who may need it in our local community. I will also stand up and provide a strong voice for local farmers in the division if I am elected as your Cornwall Councillor.
Fighting for our fishing community
Talking with members of the fishing community, I am fully aware of the challenges that they are facing, and can assure you that I will do my best to represent our fishing community at a local and national level, to ensure that it thrives with full potential. I will fight for you.
Protecting our heritage
As a traditional Cornish hedge builder, I fully appreciate the unique beauty and tradition of the landscape that we live within. If elected I pledge that I will do everything that I can to protect and preserve the heritage and beauty of this wonderful part of Cornwall for generations to come.
